What will I walk away with when I sell?

Questions people ask
- Is the mortgage payoff the same as my balance?
- Close, but the payoff includes interest through the closing date and any fees, so it runs a little higher than the statement balance. Ask your servicer for a payoff quote.
- Who pays Washington's excise tax?
- The seller, at closing, on the full sale price. It is often the largest cost after the commission.
- What are typical seller closing costs?
- Owner's title insurance, half of the escrow fee, recording and courier fees, and sometimes a home warranty. About 1% of the price is a fair estimate.
- Can I buy before my home sells?
- Often, yes. Options include a bridge or home equity line on the current home, a contingent offer, or qualifying with both payments. Frank can show you which works for your numbers.
